need help with refrigerator fan

just bought a sport 16 and have discovered the refrigerator fan runs continuously while powered by LP. it is running down the battery and is very noisy. has anyone replaced a fan with something a little more quiet? is it possible to power the only the refer with a small solar panel?

your help will be appreciated. best. JD

Don' have a newer model but I would assume the fan should run when ever the frig is on gas or electric.

As for the noise I have put a muffin fan from Radio Shack in mine and I can tell its on only in the dead of night when all else is quite.

If you go solar attach the solar to the battery. The solar will work to charge the battery all the time and the battery will supply a correct voltage to the freg. As long as you design the solar greater than the freg, fan and controls, draw you will be fine.

Plus while in storage the solar will keep the battery topped off.

I have a 2007 19ft and I have a switch by the entrance door that turns the fan on or off. If the switch is at the on position, a heat sensitive switch near the fan turns on the fan when the temperature rises. The fan is noisy, but I do not often need the fan running except on very hot days. You might look and see if you have such a switch. My switch has a red light when in the on position.

I have a 23 ft 2008 that had no fan switch and the fan running all the time drove me crazy at night so I had the Airstream dealer install a switch like yours. The problem is sometimes when I turn the switch to the "off" position still cycles on or off based on the thermostat near the cooling coils. It runs continually if I put it to the "on" position. It sounds as if yours only cycles on and off in the "on" position and is when it is in the "off " position it stays off until you turn it back on. Is that correct? This is what I wanted when I had the switch installed.
