Minuet 6.0 original refrigerator?
Hi. Does anyone know what the Minuet 6.0 came with for a refrigerator. The PO tore out the Dometic and replaced it with a student type electric fridge. I would like to get the replacement model for the original. My manual says it was a two way but I was thinking of hooking it up to the battery also (well, not me, the spouse ).
Thanks for everyone being there to answer all these questions from a newbie!

My mother was a Bozoet in college...

Just wait! There are vendors at International, we could spend our way into the poor house trying to support our Airstream/Argosy habits there.
I'm bringing my iPod and some external speakers (Oh, red neck woman won't you marry me, I've got a steady job and a DVD.....) along with the New England Unit flag, about 20 lbs of flipping "pop tops" from cans from fellow NEU members to donate to the Ronald McDonald House (I think) and a borrowed Wally Byam Beret so that I'll be legal as the NEU flag bearer and to wear during the Delegates meeting. Southwest Airlines look out!

Holy heck batman
How many credit cards? Yes I intend to take many pictures and do quite a lot of shopping. Mom and dad can haul it, right?
Will be mailing in Aluminations registration tomorrow. I hope they trust that my number is coming.
We certainly can't scare Southwest more than we did America West.

We have our original. It's a two way. To replace - you will most likely have to remove the counter - for installation. WHen the PO removed the fridge did they also remove the vent duct?

Peo,
I currently have the Dometic out of my
Minuet. It is a Model RM46E.
It is built on a frame that allows room under it for the heater vents that Janet metioned.

Thank you
I'll have to check. Rick pulled the one the PO had out. I don't think there are any vents. Yikes.
Thank you for the model number. It will help me put in the right size one

Vent duct?
I looked at the opening, there is a metal piece which looks like ducting to me, it runs across the bottom. About a foot wide. Is this it?

Welcome Pattyo
Welcome. Sister told us all about you...well, maybe not all. Glad to have you join the Unit. Hope to meet you soon.
Until then, just a note that we will have a vintage refrigeration guy speaking at the Alumination Celebration, Region One Rally this August. I am sure you can get lots of information then too.
Have great trip to Oregon.

Take a look at Janet's photo gallery...you can see the vent duct there, but its not obvious. Its a plastic "box" that is up against the wall. it goes from the top of the fridge (there must be a cutout in the back of the countertop) up the side wall and then into the overhead cabinet. its really a "chimney", to promote airflow over the cooling fins on the back of the fridge. that rising column of air that results is required for gas absorption refrigeration. Outside, you'll see the hole in the roof, with a rounded cover over it. Cool air comes in down low, through the louvred vent next to the door.
as far as "3-way" goes...check the prices on replacements. you might not want to spend the extra money on the 12v option; you couldn't run it off the battery for very long without completely draining it. only worthwhile while connected to the tow vehicle, and you're under way. even then, it may be too much of a load for the vehicle's alternator. its a BIG current draw...
might be more reasonable to just run the fridge on propane while traveling. lots of people have a "thing" about that, but the manufacturers all say that its perfectly acceptable.

Have vent!
Yes, we still have the vent Runs up through the overhead bins. Thank goodness. They did paint it an awful color though.
I better get off this computer and get packing for International in Salem! I'm sure I'll come home with even more questions. I feel like I've moved and skipped a grade and am trying to catch up!

Thank you and Yikes!
For the vent pictures. Spouse came home all exicted about getting an electric refrigerator (better than in there) and backing it up with a generator!
I think I'd like to have both.
