lights out

Greetings,
The light burns out in our Dometic refrigerator (in a 2008 27' Safari SE). They last 2 hours to 2 days and then frittz !!
We did have our circuit board replaced; but this happened before as well as after. We have had 3 after (the one before may have been old age).
Any thoughts ?

This will sound dumb but is it a 12 volt light? You can use a multimeter and measure the voltage at the light terminals and make sure it is 12 volts DC.

Check the voltage at the battery with the converter turned on. If the converter is being overzealous in its charging, it may be supplying too much voltage to the system, and that bulb just happens to be the weakest.

is the light going out? they have been known to stay on. if the bulb is very hot whan you open the door, it might be staying on. be careful not to burn yourself!

First test the battery voltage at the back of the refg.as noted above. Anything over 13.5 will shorten the bulb life

It would be almost impossible to tell if the light was staying on by just opening the door. The light will heat up much faster than you can react.

You can go to the back of the Refg. and remove one of the wires going to the light. With one side open put your volt meter between the terminal and the wire. If you see voltage there the door switch is closed and the light will be open while the door is closed.

If the light is on while the door is closed I would assume you would also see higher temperatures in the refg. 7 watts is a lot of heat to a small refg.
