KREFFT help!

I am starting work (again) on our 1958 18' "Traveler". It has the original Krefft Refrigerator. I am currently working on the 120 Volts and LPG Systems and could use some help from others with this refrigerator.
I had the Cooling Unit repaired and it now works with the Heater installed as a test only. I am going to wire the Thermostat for the 120 Volt System later today.
The Instructions state to "ELECTRIC HEATING UNIT MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE STARTING ON GAS" so that is self explanatory. I do not have any Ducting from the Heating Section to the Roof Vent. Could someone post pics of their installation?
Here is an earlier pic with the Krefft still in the Traveler.
thanks in advance

I was able to copy and then scan the Instructions (1st pic). I also found some other images that could be helpful to others.

I have a Kreft fridge - a slightly different model but I know what that means. Ours has an electric heating element that has to be removed when using the fridge on gas too. It is a long, flexible tube that plugs in to the fridge back & goes into a cylinder on top of the fridge. See the pics below.

If you don't have the electric heating element part, you won't be able to use your fridge on electric - gas only.

Hope this helps ~

Shari
Note to self...clean top of fridge!

thanks and yes that does help!
My Thermostat is bad and I will need to replace it (as soon as I can find a replacement). Where is your Thermostat for the Heater Element?
I noticed that your Refrigerator isn't vented any further that the Refrigerator itself. I was thinking of Ducting mine closer to the Vent Fitting.
What do you think? (do you have Carbon Monoxide Detectors?)
PS is that a Digital Thermometer or Thermostat you are using?

I'm not sure I understand your question...ours has a "chimney" that goes to the roof vent - are you saying yours just vents into your trailer? I have seen that before, but ours has a pseudo-vent - not air tight, but I think better than nothing. We always have a window of vent cracked so I'm sure all is well.

Our chimney is original and just made from aluminum sheet. It has the access door on the inside (open for the pics) so you can put the electric heating element in place and louvered vents on the exterior to get the airflow moving.

We were missing the electric heating element when we first got our trailer - but found one at an ol' time RV shop a couple of years ago. We do find we usually only use our fridge on gas though...don't know why other than our other trailer only had gas so that is what we are used to and we camp without electric hook-ups more than 50% of the time.

Steve,
I have exactly the same Krefft as yours in our 1958 Fling Cloud. Ours has a vent to the outside (street side) and it also vents to the trailer top behind a drawer. We do not keep bread or chocolate in that because it gets too warm.

We have been traveling since 28 FEB and have been using the LPG constantly since then. Good luck with yours.
Dick

Thanks guys!
Shari, the 3rd pic shows your Ducting or Chimney? looks like it is the dimension of the entire back of the Refrigerator, if so it answers my question. May be more difficult on mine because of the Cabinetry although looks safer that how mine came to me.
Looks like there is a Louvered Vent from the outside right behind the Refer. I have a Hole in the Floor and then an Access Door that is lower than the Refer.

Colonel, sounds like yours is in a Cabinet and elevated similar to ours except on the other side. Still helps to answer my question. Could you shoot me a picture or two of the Chimney when you get a chance so that I can build one

I put my Thermostat Probe in Ice yesterday and checked the Contacts on the Switch, Bad Switch! Now on a hunt for a replacement Thermostat but that shouldn't be too difficult.
I need to still Figure a way to test the Gas Valve since the Cooling Unit was bad and only heating up the interior of the fridge. Hopefully the Gas Valve is still in good condition.
