How to refinish the refrigerator interior?

The fridge interior plastic is all discolored from various things rubbing on it and leaky stuff (Previous owner, of course! We would never let anything leak or spill in the fridge! )

I was thinking about having the bathroom sink and shower professionally re-coated. Has anybody tried that with the fridge?

You might be surprised how you can revive the plastic liner in a refrigerator. Try cleaning it very thoroughly with water and detergent (no abrasives) being sure to get off all hardened-on crud. For some things, a plastic scraper can help. After it is thoroughly clean, polish it with something like Walbernize or a car polish containing a cleaner. With the help of a bit of elbow grease, good results are often possible.

I forgot to mention, take out all shelves and clips and such before beginning.

I used epoxy appliance paint in spray cans on my refrigerator, sink and bathtub. As with all painting, prep is 90% of the work. It all seems to be holding up pretty well and looks as good as new. Maybe it wouldn't if I were full-timing, I can't say for sure. But no complaints so far.

If the fridge is factory original you may want to consider cleaning the interior with a whole new fridge. Our 1987 is now on its third fridge.
