How long to run frig on electric?

Our manual for our 1978 Sovereign says to run on electricity only for "short" periods and then switch back to gas for a while...but no definition of what a "short" period is.

Any ideas of what this time frame is? I don't want to hose up the frig.

Thanks.

If they are talking about running on 12 volts as the heating source the time is a function of your battery strength.

There is no reason to limit the time that it can run on 120 volts if so equipped.

Manual didn't specify running on 12 volt or not...but that makes sense. Just making sure that frig doesn't have some aversion to electric and preference for gas. :-) We are new at this but I do know these frig's are pricey!
