How do I get the Fridge to electric mode not Propane

I just acquired a 2006 Safari and I can't figure out how to operate the Dometic fridge on electricity. It is now running on propane but I don't want to use propane. When the propane wasn't on, the check light stayed on and fridge didn't get very cold??? Help me please....

Check to be sure you're getting AC current to the fridge outlet when you're on shore power. Things happen over time... the cord can come unplugged or there may be a problem with the outlet or a breaker. If you know there's power available, the fridge is plugged in and in Auto mode and it won't cool on electricity, you may have an issue with the electric heating element (which is replaceable) or the control board (which is replaceable with either a Dometic board or a better aftermarket product called a Dinosaur Board.)

The interior light works so it is getting some electricity. I will see if I can locate heating element. Thanks!

The interior light and the control board run off 12v DC, so that's not telling you anything about the 120v AC power. Only the heating element runs off 120v AC, switched by the control board.

The interior light runs on 12 volts, not shore power. The fridge only operates on electricity from shore power, not 12V. Are you plugged in to shore power?

If plugged in, go outside to the fridge access door. Look inside. There should be an electrical outlet with a cord from the fridge plugged into it. Plug a lamp or something into the outlet to verify it has power.

Is the GAS switch on the fridge control panel pressed in? If so, press it to pop it out.

If all of the above are set properly, then it is probable that either the heating element or the control board in the fridge is bad.

Al

Thanks everyone for your input. I am a bit overwhelmed with my newer Airstream and all the upgrades compared to my '72. I will check the panel outside and see if my issue is an easy, obvious fix.

I feel your pain. I went from a '75 Argosy that didn't even have a TV antenna anymore to a '17 26U that has *2* televisions! It's weird. I promise you'll get used to flipping a switch to light the water heater, and to the automatic switchover on the fridge when you get it working.

I find it odd that mine didn't have a microwave or a place to put one. It appears that there was a tv as there are holes in the wall next to frig. I am still trying to figure out the frig, how I can mount tvs, how to use the solar, how to use music/dvd system etc. I do like pressing a button for hot water and having a shower

I think the reference is to the 2006 trailer, not the 1972...

Yes. I was talking about my 2006 Safari not my 1972 Tradewind.

Figured out the problem. Pretty funny. Saw an outlet but no plug. Someone had tucked the plug way up into the coils in the back of frig.
