Help for corroded refrigerator racks

I bought a used airstream and the refrigerator racks are corroded and rusted. It looks like milk or something has been on there for quite a while. I have tried everything I know to clean them. Any suggestions on cleaning or where to get replacement racks ?

plating

Take them to a local chrome (metal) plating company. They will clean and plate for you. I'd look for replacements first...ask around for sources.

If your fridge is an original '69...most likely your best chance at finding replacement racks is with a RV boneyard. And even then, the shelves are not likely to be in much better condition than your own. The good news is, the fridges aren't Airstream specific so there ar elots out there. I found some missing parts for my '64 at Cherokee RV in Denver, although they are not currently in business - in-between moves (or something). There are similar places across th country.

Your best bet would be to clean yours up, even if it means soda blasting - then either re-chrome or paint them with epoxy paint. I plan on doing that with my '56 which is currently undergoing restoration.

Humm. Well, if you decide to show up to the Denco rally here at the park, you can have whatever you want from our old refrigerator (67 original, but leaking ammonia). We were going to haul it to the dump six weeks ago, but decided to let folks at the rally take any parts they want before it goes.

We just recycled our old fridge, and our wire shelves were in bad shape, but we do have a couple of the plastic door shelves and crisper door if someone needs em, just cover shipping. They're blue plastic btw.
