G.E. Fridge 1956

I am trying to restore a Silver Streak as close to possible...
The fridge has been painted over on the outside not sure what type of paint I need to know if there is any suggestions on how to get it off without taking the finish of underneath? Can the porcelain finish be replaced and if not what is the best way to get a good finish? The inside is still like new... go figure...

Thanks Rosie The Riveter
