Frustrated with New Dometic

So three weeks ago I put in a new RM 2820. Taking the old one out and putting in the new one was one of the easiest trailer projects I've done.
Fridge worked great right away.
Then we went on a big trip 3000 miles and it did not run on gas. Turns out the gas fires right up but the thermocouple or the board does not know so it shuts down.
I tried the dollar bill on the thermo but no luck.
Anyway called Dometic and they say it's covered of course but I have to take it in to a dealer or I could break the warranty. So that will take longer than it took me to put it in.

NB,

ANY Dometic dealer will check it out for you under warranty. You don't need to go to an Airstream dealer for this. Plus, there are many mobile service techs like myself who are Dometic authorized service centers who can check it out for you also. Only problem there is their service/travel charge is not covered by warranty, but it might be worth it to you to have them come to YOU....instead if you going to THEM!

Just a thought!

OK now I am really confused. I am tinkering with the trailer today and turned on the fridge (gas) just for kicks because I have a mobile guy coming on Monday and it has been working just fine for the last 4 hours. I tried to get it to work for 2 straight weeks as noted above.
Could it be related to the temp of the fridge, I'm afraid the guy will come out and say nothing is wrong.

The follow up is this: I called Mister RV Service here in Nashville and they came out and determined it was the board. It took a week to get the board in but it appears to be working just fine now. Mister RV great service. I can not tell you why I had this problem with a brand new fridge.

Well, if the electronics are going to simply fail for no apparent reason, it will either happen right in the beginning or after many years of service. Be glad it failed under warranty -- the repairs can cost big bucks. I heard of one local mobile RV guy charging a minimum one hour ($110/per) regardless of how long it takes to fix something (less than an hour, that is). The boards aren't cheap, but by the time you add on two trips and two hours of service time plus parts, shipping and handling, it adds right up.
