Why is defrosting the refrigerator such a big deal. We have been fulltiming in our34.5 for the last ten years with a close to original refrigerator. Like the man said use the hair dryer. I can defrost the fins and be up and running in 15 minutes. Really this is such a non factor. Just enjoy the ride.

We've got to have something to talk about besides tow vehicle capacities and tire choices...

At Quartzite, we just purchased a "Fridge-fix" from Custom Coach Connection. So far so good. What I have noticed so far ..... is that there is no condensation/icing on the fins. The temperature stays much more constant over a 24 hour period than previously. Now ... just gotta wait to see how long until the next need to defrost.

By the way, their advertising says that it keeps the food cooler and actually results in lower operating costs. He says it pulls 1 amp. He ships for free is you enter his discount code when ordering at fridgefixfan.com. His discount code is ccc.

I made my own version of the Fridge-Fix and so far so good. We installed it about a week ago. My version covers the front of the fins and draws air up and over the fins through an enclosed plenum. We're using the trailer for nearly three weeks so we'll know at the end of that time if it reduces the ice-up factor.

One thing for certain... with my three small fans blowing the temperature in the fridge is very consistent even with food packed inside. This was never the case in the past - we had to ensure the fridge was packed loosely and even then the temperature varied quite a bit from location to location.

I'll post pictures another time.

Dometic rep told me not to use a hair dryer. I turn off the fridge, remove the top shelf, and prop my Endless Breeze fan blowing on the fins. Takes only a few minutes to defrost. I wipe the fins down with paper towels wrapped around a spatula so that they don't ice up again.

About every other time, I defrost the freezer as well as the lower box.

I do have a fan mounted on my fins. I wrote an article in Airstream Life an issue or two back about installing a fin fan. I ran the power to the fan up through the drain tube under the fins.

We have a 2015 FC 23. Is the Fridge-Fix a good investment?

I mentioned above that I made my own version of the Fridge-Fix and I think it works great. I forgot to post pictures and I hope to do that sometime.

Back to Fridge-Fix. It seems like a good idea to me and for ~$100 it would be worth a try IMO. My homemade version does reduce ice build-up although I still have to defrost periodically. The biggest improvement in my mind the much more uniform temperature throughout the refrigerator. I can put almost anything on any shelf and it stays cold now. Without the fans I found I had to leave the frig relatively sparsely loaded and the temperature at the bottom of the frig was several degrees warmer than the top, near the fins. Now I can load the frig to nearly overflowing and everything stays cold.

Does anyone know what the Dometic fridge model number is for a 2015 FC 23?

It sounds like there is no Fridge Fix that fits the 2015 FC 23. Any other options?

We have not had the frost problem with our 23. We do see a bit build if there is an air leak, but if we get the door closed correctly, no problem. Then maybe we just are in denial and don't see the frost. We'll look closer this year. Thanks for the solution suggestions. Pat

But rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle.....shoot the fins as they start to ice up. The alcohol melts the ice and drains away. Works with little effort!
