Frig vent /battery box

I want to mount a new Norcold 512 in my Globetrotter. I'm planning to mount it in the original location aft of the door and above the wheel well. There is an existing exterior compartment door at floor level just in front of the wheel well that I was planning to use as a battery compartment. Will it be all right to vent the frig through the battery compartment floor assuming I use an AGM battery?

AGM batteries can vent explosive gases under certain conditions. Because of this they are still required to be placed in a sealed container that vents to the outside of the trailer. Storing a potential source for explosive gas in the same area as a device with an open flame would not be prudent in my opinion.

I also would keep the battery compartment and fridge compartments separate. Vent them separately. Something to think about - what if the next owner puts a wet cell battery in that compartment...

Another vote for separate vents... I worry more about the possibility of sulfuric acid fumes from over heated batteries than hydrogen.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know the AGM batteries off-gased. I'll put a floor in the fridge compartment and use a separate lower side vent for the fridge.
