A good place to start is measuring the opening left when you remove the household refrigerator. The opening was likely modified to fit that refrigerator and it will likely to be easier to purchase a new refrigerator that is that size or slightly large so that you won't be faced with filling gaps. Replacing a refirgerator in a Sovereign
is a big job, and while used ones may be available from RV salvage yards, their condition can be such that it place in question how long the unit might last. New RV refrigerators in a variety of sizes can be sourced from:
- Dometic. The original supplier for Airstream refrigerators from the 1960s forward, they offer a large number of sizes and door configurations. You also have the option of going with 3-way operation -- something Airstream has only offered in one or two models over the years. I had a Dometic 3-way installed in my Overlander ten years ago, and I would never voluntarily go back to a 2-way RV refrigerator.
- Norcold. Norcold is the second major supplier of RV refrigerators, and they, too, offer a large selection of models and configurations. They also offer strictly electric refrigerators something that Dometic hasn't offered as far as I know.
Good luck with your investigation!
