Fridge on or off while not using moho?

We've got the 310 parked in the driveway on an electric landline, with no plans to use it for some time. Is it better to keep the fridge on while parked, or turn it off? I am concerned about shortening the life of the fridge if we leave it on constantly. It is a Norcold fridge, and is about 5 or 6 years old.

I have also seen it is better to leave the doors shut if the fridge is off, to keep the seals in good shape, so I will make sure to have baking soda in each compartment and do so, if the consensus it to leave it off.

Thanks!

Susan

We always turn ours off and use rubber bands to hold the doors open an inch or so. If we close it up it develops mold inside over time.

When we have power available, we leave the refer running. When we take lucy to the storage lot, which isn't that often, we prop both doors open several inches for ventilation.

I seem to remember some pretty strong advice to keep the doors shut while the fridge is off. I believe it had to do with the seals warping out of shape and no longer making a correct seal when the door is closed. I will see if I can find that topic.

We usually leave ours on. On a couple of occasions when we have had it off for an extended time with the doors closed, we got mold. It is quite dry here so since we got mold here, I'd expect that one would get mold most places. Perhaps a Dry-z or similar would avoid that problem.

Cold Mold

I clip a clothes pin on each door to keep it from closing when parked.
Not on gasket, on metal hook.

Some of the nastest smells come from a closed fridge.

Ice maker comes with a door hook that either keeps door closed,
For going down the road,
Or props it open about 1/4" for storage.
