fridge mystery- freezer cold, refer warm

The original fridge in our 65 Boles Aero still works (mostly) but the freezer section gets down to ZERO deg. F but the fridge section only got down to 58 deg.

This is an original Dometic. LP and AC. The AC element is burned up.

I assumed the cooling was shared between both both compartments.

thanks

I checked one of these out a week ago (Dometic RM75), and the cooling unit has a blockage. The freezer got down to -5, and the fridge was 75. You'll need to either replace the cooling unit or replace the fridge.
Oh, and to help you make up your mind about which to do, I installed several cooling units on our own Dometic fridge to no avail, and ended up getting a new fridge from Airstream.

There is always the old trick of turning it upside down. I have done this and beat on the cooling unit with a rubber hammer and let it sit over night. Apparently cleared junk out of one of the orifice's and ran it for another 10 years.
Some say it doesn't work or is a short term fix but since you will have to take it out anyway it is worth a try

The cause is due to the reefer section of the tubing, being partly plugged up.

Remove it; Put it in the back of your truck (up side down) take it for a ride on a bumpy road. Then give it another try. What can you lose?
