Unhappy Fridge Cooling Problems

We have a '68 International, Dad bought back in '78 in tandem with a '75 GMC Suburban. Been a great since then. Have a couple problems the fridge ( Dometic 70B or B70 ) only cools on electric wondering if anybody else has had any experience with a problem of this sort. Also the shroud for the original Armstrong AC unit has disinegrated and seem impossible to find a replacement. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Take care

Refrigerator

Hi Bruce,

Look at this site:
http://www.gasrefrigeration.net/
They have all the info you need. They also have parts etc. for the older dometic units.

Refrig Problem

Hi..I know this sound silly but, sometimes it happens to all of us..
Have you checked to see if you have propane in your tanks and, is the tank switched on-line?
ciao

Bruce. All refrigerators burners must be periodically cleaned. The flue releases rust that gets into the burner and oriface. They must be removed and cleaned. DO NOT USE ANY FOREIGN OBJECT TO CLEAN THE ORIFACE.Additionally, the LPG pressure should be checked. It should be between 11 and 13 inches of water column pressure, however, a setting of 12.5 works better if you use high altitudes.
Just because you may see a flame from the burner, does not means that it's temperature is hot enough to cause cooling.

Vern,
There is gas in my tanks and I have a pilot light. I actually did forget to turn the LPG on once, kept trying to light the furnace and nothing would happen. I was about ready to pull the whole thing out to clean the pilot and decided to start at the beginning first. It's nice when it's the simple stuff.

Andy,
Thanks for the info. I have a question for you and anybody else who has any input. Ever since I've got these new OPD LPG tanks I dont seem to have as good a flame on any of my LPG stuff, Bar-BQ, Torch, A/S, and a Misquito Magnet that was working fine till I changed to OPD tanks. Has anybody else experienced this or know of somebody that has, or am I jus imagining things
Thanks again guys.

Take care

Bruce. Make a manometer and check the LPG pressure. All you need is about 3 feet of clear plastic tubing 3/8 or 1/2 inch id, a ruler and some water.
