Fridg acting up

Fridg question:

I have a 2 year old Domatic which after a few weeks of operation starts to warm up.
Electric/gas makes no difference; on the coldest setting it stays about 40 degrees.

If however, I turn the power switch off for a few seconds and than back on, it cools down and works fine for a few weeks again.

Any thoughts?

Michael

What model is it, and does it have the auto temp control on it?

Hey RV Cool,

It's a 2820, Fan on upper fins and inside.
See, now its fine, but in a few days it will start to warm again, until I turn on and off?

This was told to me my repair man...
The Amonia requires a compound to keep it flowing that if used on a slant, (not level) will start to separte and solidify.
This is not reversable.
Will slowly deteriorate the performance of unit.
Running down the road with it on is not a problem, as the movement keeps it mixed.
It only takes a few hours for this to happen.

Yours is probaly just starting to show signs of this.
The off and on, is opening up the passage that is trying to block up.

Check to see if it's going into an autodefrost cycle. Switching it on/off might shut off the defrost cycle. Just a guess - mine is 34 years old and doesn't do defrost!

sounds like the temp probe or temp controller board is bad...probley the latter. When you cycle the power the board reboots itself.

Level yes they have to be, because they rely on gravity to circulate. The only thing inside the units are 33% ammonia, 64% water, and 3% sodium chromate, and 350psi of hydrogen. Nothing separates out of this mix. If run off level, the sodium chromate tends to bake in the boiler and clog up the perkulator tube. If this happens, the unit will not cool at all, at any time.

Since you got a part warranty I would have the circut board tested, any authorized dometic dealer should be able to do this.
