Finicky gas/elec switch

The switch on our Dometic model 2410, in our 69 Caravel has a knob style switch to turn from gas to electric, but it's very finicky and difficult to switch the operations over. A lot of time can pass before we can tell if it has successfully gone to electric, and we lose a lot of cooling function before we can figure it out, since there is no way to know if it is actually running on 120v.

I'm wondering if there is a sure, quick way to tell if it's on 120 or if we could replace the knob with a different type of switch available. That's where the problem seems to lie.

Thanks for any help,
Krista

How about splicing in a little light
between the switch and the element?

I recently put an 14V LED indicator on my outdoor lights. I also put one on my water pump circuit.
They have 120VAC LEDs should do the trick.
