Fan never stops! I want to sleep...

The fan on my refrigerator never (or rarely) stops. I try to ignore it in my sleep but doesn't really work http://www.airforums.com/forums/images/smilies/bb.gif. Is it normal that my refrigerator fan rarely stops? And what about the battery use? Seems like a battery drainer...

There is a thermostat on the back of the refrig. set at around 90degrees.So when ever the compartment temperature reach 90 degrees it runs. You can get a switch to turn it off but the refrig may not cool as effectively.

Thanks for the info Clipper. Is this switch something that you need to have installed? I wouldn't mind to turn off the fan at night when I am sleeping...

You will find lots of discussion about solutions to the fan noise here:

This is what we have on ours. It uses very little D.C. and I can't hear it running, even in our 17' Caravel:

The fan is mounted to the reefer box. It acts like a resonator. Mine was so load it would wake me up at night. I mounted the fan to a 2X8 inch 1/4 inch thick rubber strip and then mounted the strip to the box. This leaves the fan in the same place but isolates it from the trailer. No more noise.
PM me if you want pics.
