Dometic vs Norcold, any thoughts?

I wanted to make a specific post, Dometic vs Norcold. I'd like to know people's experiences with performance, service and design- someone posted about a good detail with the Norcold, recessed floor, which made it less messy to defrost. The Norcold appears to only come in electric or gas, not 3 way. We're looking at the 2.7 cuft model for under the counter in our '64 Globetrotter. Maybe electric is fine, if it will run off the battery, with solar back up? Also, if we do away with the gas, is it a bad idea to remove the *&%$ fridge vent on the roof?
