Hey, can't help you with instructions, but if it's not crazy far from Central NJ, I could come lend a hand, no experience but willing to help. MPJ

Your original refrigerator did not need 12 volts and there will not be a line going to it. You will need to find a 12 volt line close by and tap into it.

My TT is 20 years old. When I bought it, I knew that the fridge had a leak (smelled like ammonia inside). I, too, have a Dometic RM3807. I have called several places (referral given to me by other forum members) but have had no luck finding a replacement coil for this model. I have since learned that this model was discontinued due to a problem with an O-ring in one of the valves. I suppose it was easier to discontinue the entire model rather fixing the problem with the O-ring, but that's how it goes some times. In any case, the box appears to be Ok but I can't seem to find parts for it. Can my existing coil be repaired? How can I check this? And if I do repair the coil, will my fridge stop smelling like ammonia?
I have also considered replacing the entire unit and there appear to be three models that are direct replacements; the RM 2820, RM2852, and DM2862. My 3807 is 56" tall, the RM2820 is 53" tall (6.0 cu ft.) and the 2852 & 2862 (8.0 cu ft.) are each 60" tall - to either of these two models fit will require some modification to the face frame of my existing cabinet. I would prefer to have the larger size fridge, if I can make that work for my application. I have a drawer underneath the fridge and a flip-up lid (drawer front) above the fridge. My existing fridge sits on a support to hold it securely in place. It appears that any replacement fridge will also need to sit on this support to make the new unit fit properly. Is this so? OR can the support be modified to allow the new (taller) unit to sit a bit lower than the original? Has anyone who has had to change out the fridge encountered these problems? Does anyone have suggestions for how I need modify my cabinet to allow the new fridge to fit properly? Any ideas?

Here is a re-manufacturer that has two models of coil for your refer, brand-new and rebuilt.
Search Results - RV Cooling Unit Warehouse
Yes, a new coil will certainly get rid of the smell!

The replacement fridge that I would like to install in my TT is 4" taller than what I had originally. There is no replacement of a similar size - my only options are either a smaller size or a larger one. To make the larger unit 'fit' I need to modify the face frame of the refer cabinet. (see photo of cabinet) I believe I will also need to lower the base panel on which the refer will sit. This is necessary as the condenser from the old unit touched the back wall of the TT when installed. If I install a taller unit, it would sit farther forward as the curvature of the back wall would not permit the unit to slide back far enough. This requires that the face frame be installed father forward to 'meet' the front of the fridge. Has anyone made this type of modification? Just curious. Also, I need to make sure that the new unit, when installed in the lower position, has enough clearance from the wheel well (the base of the fridge sits over the wheel well). I would appreciate any input before embarking on all of these mods. Thanks

Here is a photo showing the base where the unit will sit. And can anyone tell me where the water lines go to? I am sure it is a holding tank, but which one?

Update:
I took my TT to have an inspection... then I learned that all they do is try to light the furnace, light the stove, etc. They don't stop to troubleshoot or tinker with anything unless you also authorize them to do a diagnostic on the appliance, typically a $50-80 cost. As for the fridge, they could not move forward unless the cabinet was modified to allow for the larger size unit. They also told me that the warranty would be voided if I installed the unit myself. The cost of having them install it - $225. They also charge an 18% shop rate on all labor to cover supplies. If I had them install my fridge, I would pay $150 in supplies (for what, a bit of grease and electrical tape??).
After sitting for more than 10 days after the inspection, I learned that nothing had been done - my rig had been pulled out of the shop and parked in the lot, supposedly waiting for me to authorize the next move. Well, no one called. Then I learned I had been billed for 1/2 hr. labor to remove the fridge (I doubt if it took that long). And when I asked to see it, I saw that the doors have been removed and the circuit board removed. No there is no chance of saving it. I also noticed the top of the coil was badly rusted.
Funny thing... the fridge they were going to install had also been taken out of the shop and set next to the old one. We had rain over the weekend and both units were wet. I thought is was an unusual and lazy way to deal with a new piece of merchandise - and a potential sale to a new customer. Perhaps its how they do business and this shop. I was not too impressed. Now I will have no choice but to select a new refer and install it myself.

Or find another dealer, one that cares about you at least a little bit.

The local AS dealer doesn't care to service TT unless you purchased yours from them. Great business model; great service! Read the thread "service in Denver" and see what I mean. Even though they are 100 miles away, I thought CW would be better. Sadly disappointed (and feeling fleeced). If anyone has had a good or great service experience in the Denver area, I certainly am open to ideas and suggestions. As you now know... I am in the market for a new fridge!
Thanks for the help.

Hello,
A few months back you posted about a RM3807 frig: "Removed from airstream, needs new coil I think . Ammonia smell , free for parts. Charleston SC" Any chance you still have it (or any parts left of it)? We are looking for a heat element. Thanks,
Teresa/Chris
