Dometic RM100

Is there anyone producing cooling units for the RM100 fridges?

No. I tried to find one a few years ago and was unsucsessful. Mine was running on propane but not electric. Although I found an old stock electric heating element and never installed it, I decided to replace it with a Dometic 2820. I think thats the model. I still have the RM100 if your interested in it.

There are 2 places here in Arkansas that make replacement coils, but not for the RM100. I begged them to make one for me but for the cost of setting up the bending jig I can get a new Dometic or Norcold. It's really a shame, mine was in great shape otherwise.

Thats what I thought.

I just picked up a 2nd RM100 out of auto salvage yard complete for $30 bucks. Planned on using it for parts when needed in the future. I cleaned the burner and flu and it fired right up on propane and cooled well. It has the 12v and 110v electric but have not tried these out yet.

The cooling unit is rusty, is this a good idea or bad idea?

Remove the cooling unit, lightly wire brush, acid etch, and POR15 to preserve.

Not sure if it is worth the time and if ithe POR 15 would effect the cooling.

Thanks

These two 'maybe' can provide rebuilt units...

We have the RM100 also, in our '83 310. I found two places that might be a source of rebuilt units or for repairing them...

rvicebox.com

rvrefrigerator.net

Replacing the fridge would be a big deal for us and I'm relieved ours has lasted so long!
