Dometic RM 3804

I've searched but haven't found a similar problem discussed. We have a 92 Classic with a Dometic RM3804. The freezer compartment freezes well on either electric or propane. The temp in the refrig varies from about 40 to 80 degrees . What could be causing this? Any suggestions?

We've had that problem with our Dometic. The cooling unit got blocked by whatever was in it, and would turn anything in the freezer to a brick, but never got under 65 in the fridge. After a parade of cooling units, I finally gave in, and bought a new fridge. We've had no more problems since.

We are having the same problem with our rm 3804. Freezer works great but the refer part can't stay cool when it is over 80 degrees outside temp. No problem when we are on the Oregon Coast but we do like to get inland to warm up. Any idea's, we really don't want to buy a new one?

Fixed (so far). check these items , we did and got the refer working 34degrees for 2 days now. Make sure the sensor is attached to the board, check the automatic propane thingy that regulates the propane ( ours was partly closed, it is at the back of the refer) also make sure the burner isn't clogged . Good luck

Quick fix

Our original Dometic had trouble staying cool while traveling. It turned out to be the old gaskets that didn't seal well. When traveling the cold air is literally sucked out of the fridge. So in the interim Terry suggested adding a thin foam gasket to help seal when closed. It worked like a charm. So good that we had to keep turning down the control setting to a lower number, because the fridge was freezing the food.

Thanks MacGyver, I mean Terry .
