Dometic refrigerator replacement

We are "on the road" in the first week of our summer vacation. Refrigerator died and I need to replace it. Cost of repair equal to cost of new.

I do not want to replace it at current service center due to high cost of replacement. Dometic no longer makes my model and there is a slight problem with the dimensions.

My refrigerator is contained in a built-in cabinet. Will I be able to squeeze the new model into the cabinet space? Does anyone know if there is any extra head room in the cabinet to accommodate the higher refrigerator?

2003 International AS

Refrigerator dimensions of current refrigerator ( Dometic RM 2452):
39 9/16 tall
23 11/16 wide
24 deep

This model is no longer made. Closest in size (Dometic RM 2510)dimensions:
40 5/16 tall
21 7/8 wide
24 deep

Don't know if you have a problem using Norcold or not . . . but their model "N410" is almost exactly the same size . . . I take that back, it is exactly the same size as the RM 2452.

My installation manual says that the cabinet/box should not allow any air around the sides or top - only provide air space at the back. So I'm guessing that's how yours was installed (with very little wiggle room).

Good Luck, PM me if you can't find a source for the Norcold.

We ended up taking the trailer to PPL in Houston, TX. They had a refrigerator that fit perfectly in the cabinet. It is the same size as the original. Only differences are the color (black vs tan) and the new model has an auto mode that switches from gas to electric depending on power.

Great service, would highly recommend this service center.

Wondered about PPL

I was just thinking about ordering a fridge from PPL. Good place to go ? It looks like they have the best prices. Still trying to decide between the Dometic or the Norcold ;any reason to pick one over the other?

Bought my Dometic for my Tradewind last year from PPL. They were the best price and about 5 miles from the house. Bought my Yamaha Generator from then in June as they had the best deal.
