Dometic not igniting and no propane

Works fine on A/C (at least it was) so I connected the propane lines to it an ran the 12v for the igniter. Nothing. Doesn't "spark" and I don't hear/smell propane. I referred to a few service manuals and owner's manuals I found online to make sure I hooked up the 12v correctly, and as far as I can tell, I did. Not sure what to check next.

You may still have air in the lines. Have you lit a burner on the stove top. That is all I have ever had to do to get the fridge working. Sometimes for the heater, I had to crack the propane line at the heater until I could smell propane and then it would light. Same thing for the water heater. Hope this helps.

If your fridge requires 12 volts, it is not the original unit that came with the trailer. It should have a display panel to show you what mode it is in. If the shore power is disconnected, it should switch to gas and the panel should display. If the panel does not display without shore power, I would suspect the 12 volt line.

On my rig, I had to light the water heater to purge the lines of air after installing a new refrigerator. Lighting the stove, which is on another branch of the propane line, didn't purge the line very well.

It's not what came with the trailer. I have the RM 2552 Gas/electric, but it requires a 12 v connection for the "re-igniter." I've given up tinkering with it. Going to take it to the local Airstream shop. Hopefully they can get it operating correctly.

I think the problem is fixed. It was two things. The igniter had a bad/loose ground. Also the plastic control knob had broken inside, so when turning it was not actually engaging the switch to go from "off" to "gas". It sparks and ignites, now I'm waiting to see if it holds and cools. Thanks for the tips. Learn something new every day on here.
