Dometic Door Hinge

The door in my Dometic refrigerator fell off. The manufacturer told me that I would have to replace the whole door even though the part number of the hinge strip is listed in my owners manual. The hinge strip is made of plastic. I cut a strip of aluminum and drilled holes for the hinge pin and the plastic strip fastening screw. Put it back together and it works like a charm.

Welcome to the forum. Those sort of jobs are most satisfying. I'm sure we're all glad you are no longer unhinged.

I found the same problem when I just brought our trailer to the house from storage ! I pieced it back together and glued it with Gorilla Glue. Hope this works. We're almost on the road so had to do something fast. Called Dometic. No help there. No repair kit for my model. They would sell me a new door. Our 2010 25 FB is all of 2.5 years old. This same failure occurred 10 years ago on our 1999 Safari 27. That time the door fell off while in storage and busted the oven door across the galley. Replaced both doors that time.

Seem like Dometic could improve on their cheesy plastic hinge hinge pin mounts.

We had the same problem on our '08 28' Intl at 2 1/2 yrs. Your Dometic has a 2 year parts & labor and a 3 year parts only. So contact AS and a Dometic dealer and get a free door. Yes the design leaves some thing to be desired, (avoid heavy things on the door storage shelves).
