Question Dometic dip stick?

I just removed my refer and noticed there is a dip stick on the left hand side near the back . If any one can tell me what this is for, I would apprecieate it. I believe this is the original 69 model.

Thank You

If it is twisted in a spiral fashion it is to force the heat to the walls of the flue for better heat transfer to the cooling solution. It also caused the heat to be dispersed evenly.
