there are also two hard metal wires that go into the back of the frige from the bottom to about half way up and into the fridge, One of the two of them is broken in half. Can I fix this or do I need to replace? What part is this I assume it is temperature sensor?

Hard wires???

If it is the thermocouple; It will have to be replaced. There should be one for the gas side and one for electric. I don't know if they are available.
