Cheap Plastic Refrigerator Vents on CCDs

I was wondering if anyone owning a CCD 16' or 22' or 75th Anniversary 19' with the cheap plastic refrigerator vents (painted silver) replaced them with an aluminum type? Mine continue to peel paint and look like crap. It would be nice to retrofit them with something more visually pleasing and easier to maintain. Any suggestions from the above listed owners?

I have the same and wondered about the quality. Mine was garage parked (a very nice climate controlled space) and shows no sign of wear - but now I store it outside (for now) and am concerned about the details. I am interested in replacements from the factory or aftermarket too.

Thanks, Mike

Contact Roger Williams Airstream, Weatherford, Texas. Ask for David Tidmore, the general manager. He has sourced replacement doors and vent covers custom locally either in Weatherford or nearby that are made from stainless steel. There is a thread on this forum by moderator, PAHASKA, which show how beautiful these doors and vent covers are installed. PAHASKA is John Irwin, the author of numerous helpful hints which appear in Airstream Life magazine. The doors and vent covers are very moderately priced. At least I felt so. I was very surprised to learn how little they cost. The Toll Free phone number for Roger Williams Airstream is 1-800-378-5883. Call and discuss this with David and make up your own mind.
