2002 Safari Refrigeration RM2582 Not working

Just purchased my first Airstream and going thru the systems. The Dometic RM 2852 freezer works under propane but the lower refrig unit doesn't. Both fail under 30 amp electrical. My friend K.C. says the whole unit needs to be replaced. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks from Chris at It's About Thyme - Austin, Texas

Hard to believe that a 2002 model is already a total write-off. I think you'll get lots of good advice here, and one of the solutions might be to replace the circuit board(s).

It seems to be a fairly common problem with units of that era, from what I have read here.

Good luck with your repair.

Chris, did you wind up replacing that 2652? I'm staring down the barrel at replacing a RM3862 in a 06 Classic with a similar issue. The freezer unit cools but does not freeze and the lower refrigerator doesn't get cold at all. I had it in the shop this week and the guys at the RV place said the whole unit should be replaced.

Pcfixer, I just sent you a private message with a guide attached that may be helpful to you. The guide was sent to me by another forum member when I was trying to figure out my refrigerator problems this summer. Thank goodness for forum members who are ready to freely share information. Let me know if you receive the message with the attachment.

Hi Chris,

This probably isn't the issue, but make sure you're giving the fridge plenty of time to cool off. I'm here in the ATX as well and in the summer, it takes my fridge a good 24 hours before it cools down.
