Isn't it great when the propane appliances run. I always like the spring start up when I flush water lines and test propane appliances. Feeling the warmth of the furnace, the warmth of the hot water, and the warmth of the stove top always makes me feel snug and comfy in our "little house".

Your Safari is progressing nicely. It's great you are a supporting member as I'm sure managing this website is a budget challenge. We like our pictures, but it requires hardware to store them all. I'm a supporting member too.

A little update. I've started working/polishing on the oxidation on the upper curves and top. I debated on the best methods and decided just using the Lowes truck box polish. I'm very pleased so far. Bringing back a newer look and getting rid of the ugly oxidized sun spots.

Polishing is definitely a dirty job!

After much research and trial and error I found using flour does work very well at removing residual polish. I also found out a well placed drop cloth helps keep the flying polish off the newly painted house!

Today is the 4th anniversary bringing our 1972 Airstream home. I remember that day thinking what the heck did we get into.

A year past my original 3 year estimate. Maybe this year I can get a new Air-conditioner in place and the belly pan finished.

My 66 Trade Wind ownership turned 4 years last September. We got vintage Airstreams roughly the same time period. I need to figure out some type of awning, maybe some LED interior lights, window coverings, and new cushions for the gaucho. I also have to check outlets and junction boxes for any aluminum wiring problems.

There is always something to drain the bank account with these old trailers. Our Trade Wind is a good size for exploring the Rockies. Easy to tow, and fits in most state parks. The main problem is my wife doesn't like it very well. She likes her Limited, but it is too big for state parks and the like.

Wow been awhile since we've posted. Had a set back with health issues so haven't been able to get out much.
This past weekend we stopped by the local re-store, Pam found some left over 2'x2' carpet squares. The squares were left overs from a remodel at a jewelry store she use to work for, what a coincidence. The squares were $2 a piece. So we estimated the approximate number we would need to do the floor. Our guess was right on. I just finished laying the last square. Man what a difference, looks so much better than the vinyl planks that cover the whole floor. We did have the warping from expansion with the vinyl. We only covered the open floor, but the squares do go under the bunks, fridge and the front gaucho a bit, turned out nice. I will post some pictures later.

Hi and welcome back. Good to hear from you. Hey, vintage Airstreams are suppose to improve health. Consider how much better you feel after doing the new floor covering in Pam's 72. Yes, do post a couple of pictures. And don't forget to probe with your moisture meter after a rainy spell. The carpet squares can hide a leak.

I started a 75 Overlander last fall. It was in pretty good shape and had vintage enthusiasts as owners for the last 15 years. But the thing had needs and I needed a project for my retirement health, not financial health. It's been fun working on it.

So far all dry, when we did the replacement of the sub floor I coated the plywood with marine epoxy plus epoxy paint under the vinyl floor. I did that as a protective measure to help prevent the rear end or any other location from rotting. So far we have had no leaks that I'm aware of but I continue to check.
One problem I have is with wasps building nest inside the fridge vent cover I have had to spray and knock out multiple nests.

there are two (backup) and three (tail/brake),in the new LED's, my guess is to ground them to the frame or near bye? We used Vulcum black polyurethane sealant to mount them in the holes with the cans out they are water proof and not going anywhere.

My Overlander was pretty free of critters, surprisingly. I did find some "mud daubers" nests in the belly pan. I can sure see how these bugs can mess up a water heater or furnace burner.

I checked my box of left overs, the original cans were gone I may have tossed them because they were pretty corroded. I did have two red and two clear lens covers for original cans with gaskets. I will keep an eye out when I clean my garage in the next few weeks if by some chance I had placed the cans somewhere else.

We haven't posted in quite some time. A few updates we finally installed air conditioner and we replaced the Goodyear marathon tire bombs lol. We replaced the Marathons with the Goodyear Endurance. We feel safer now towing with the new tires.
One other up grade Pam traded in the Ford Expedition for a 2015 Toyota Tundra 1794 edition. To many problems with the aging Expedition (blowing spark plugs x2). We love the Toyota.
