Great to see another 72 Safari on the road from New England. Glad that that you are traveling with it, so many get stuck in the back yard and never get on the road again. She is a great little trailer. So many State and National parks where the size is just right and towing is so easy. We restored ours in 2013-14 and headed to Burning Man in NV. She's been all over the West Coast and Canada since and we just love her. Like all ladies of a certain age, she needs some TLC and constant attention but well worth the time and effort.

Finally after 3 years...

Finally after about 3 years I got my used bumper I bought a couple years back straightened and installed just today. It was a pain in the butt to find someone to straighten my aluminum bumper, no one wanted to touch it, they were too scared and thought it would crack, well I found a little shop nextb town over that fixed it for $75. Better late than never. I also resprayed my rear frame rails and underneath with a rustoleum rust paint.

I've enjoyed using the airstream the past 3 years and finally getting around to much needed updates to bring her into this century.

This weekend projects:
1. Weboost Cellular booster antenna and repeater install
2. Solar Panels on roof & combiner box install
3. Finish my Maxxair Fan install
4. install new roof vent pipe cover
5. Paint the roof white

Thanks for posting the update. Where does guy find a used bumper as we need one for our Sovereign project? Ours is bent and cracked.

Good to hear the Safari is out and about after all your hard work, and that you are enjoying it. It does look nice.

Bumper....

Hi David, I found mine on my local craigslist but here's a pretty good deal below. I would just double check the distance from your rear frame rails in back to make sure the holes will line up on the new bumper you acquire. I bought my front rockguard from these guys, they're located in New Orleans, I do believe. You can also call them, they seem like pretty cool guys. What year is your trailer?

here's another bumper option if the one above is not wide enough, but this one doesn't include free shipping

Roof top vent with solar control wires...

Just installed my new aluminum mushroom vent which I switched out for my regular style vent that came with my airstream. I drilled 2 holes on the side facing down and pulled my mppt solar controller wires through them which will eventually go into my rooftop solar combiner box. I wanted to use this style of vent so there wouldn't be any water intrusion down the vent when it rained. I also put screening material up inside to keep out the bugs.

Thank you for the references to a used bumper. We will look into it.

Now you have mushrooms growing on top of your trailer. Maybe its been in the dark too much. The vent does look very solid.

Ha ha, I do but only 1 mushroom. The other vents I left them be except I got new gaskets, resealed them and put on new bug screens.
