I am very interested in what latch to use as well. I have been using duct tape.... The sticky residue is driving me crazy!

Photos of original latch attached

Our '71 has the original latch in good working order. I took photos of it for you, in case that helps any.

We have a 73 Safari with the same problem. I can not see how the latch is installed on the vanity. Could you send us a picture of the whole vanity?

I think Out of doors Mart has them. This is what I used before getting a latch. The thread on the eyelet is shy of 1/8 diameter. So it threads into a rivet nice and snug.

We can't find any latch to work so I just use a small bungee cord with hooks and it works fine.
