zippidy dee awning
so, i am an awning neophyte...maybe 10 ups and downs in my travels....but so far no problem...until putting it up this morning....and without knowing how.... the rafter arm...after being disconnected and stored and while in the process of rolling up the awning the "J" hook on one of the rafter arms snapped ...broke plum off.....
will an airstream dealer have the parts...can one get just that hook and replace it, it looks rivited on, or does one have to replace the rafter arm, which is bolted to the trailer, it appears

You can easily replace just the broken casting.
You can call Zip Dee at 800-338BEST to order the part.

I broke one last year. They replaced it for free. Nice folks. Easy to replace, also.

there are several way to replace the hook
typically just the hook, or the hook n short piece of bar.
go to the z/d website and look at the parts available.
it will be obvious.
some dealers DO stock these bits, most don't
Cheers

I broke one two years ago. When I called ZipDee they told me how I broke it and sent me a replacement for free. It comes as an assembly.
If you look carefully at the stud that you store the hook on before you roll up the awning, there is a fat part and a thinner section. The hook must be on the thinner section. If you put it on the thicker part which is right up against the rafter arm, the two arms bind and the hook breaks.
To bad they don't mention that in their manual.

Zippi Dee doo dah, what a wonderful day! The company is super and has sent out parts to us, helped with instructions and even installed and adjusted our awnings. Nice friendly people too.
Here's plenty of sunshine heading your way, Zippity doo dah, part on the way!
Are you managing to beat most of the heat?

When your company name starts out with Zip, you gotta be the best.
