Zion NP it's time again

Well tomorrow we leave for Zion NP. Probably later than earlier, as the last two days Were spent doing other things than getting ready. I did however get the new Fantastic fan in and fix the door knob. Although I thing a whole new door handle and insides is needed.

We take this trip every fall and this year the twins are 1 and a half. So they can do some walking, and riding in the backpacks. Emma and andrew are 8 and 5 so they are good to go...

This year we are spending the whole week there as the kids have fall brake.

I have also finally come to the realization that I need to do a shell of restoration if we want to keep using the AS. So round 2 will start next Jan. for a remodel. I hate to do this After i just finished the first remodel a year or so ago, but such is life. Most of my decision has come from the fact that my shell as slid of the flooring around the wheel wells. It has been this way for two years and isn't getting worst YET>!!!!

I will also change up the floor plan as to accommodate the twins better. 6 people in an AS is pretty tight but I have a great plan in mind. (i think)

Well Zion will be great and I will Keep you all posted on the fun and activities..

Hey Jason...we were at Zion in August and it was great...we really enjoyed it...first time in many years there and the first time with the AS. We stayed at Watchman Campground which is right in the middle of everything (but you know that)...and a good place to serve as a base. We had a nice site on the part of the loop that goes along the Virgin River...wading & swimming was nice! Have a blast with the kids! We were there with "R2DTube" from LA before heading to hte North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and ran into "rtream" from San Diegoin their 19' Bambi ...right across the road from us, so we had a very enjoyable Bambi mini-rally. Good times! Neighboring campers thought it was all planned...and I guess it must had seemed like it from their perspective...we carried on like we'd all known each other for years!

We just returned from Zion,Bryce and Arches. What a beautiful part of the country. It was getting cold at night, in the low 20's but nice during the day.The crowds were not as bad as I expected. Have fun

We just left Zion today, the weather is perfect! It looks like a Casita convention in Watchman! Have a safe trip!

There are 5 other AS here tonight. This is also a 58' silver streak 15 footer being towed by a 70's Vista cruiser. I will try and get some pics of it tomorrow. It is really nice.

We all rode our bikes up to zion lodge today. I figure its about 7 or so miles round trip. Andrew is still on his little 12" wheel bike. So for every 4 times he pedals i pedal once. But he made it. And the twins rode in the trailer we have. Fun playing in the river and eating ice cream at the lodge. Hikes for tomorrow. 80 + on the weather. It's great.

It's that time of the year again and we are headed for Zion. We leave tomorrow ( Sunday ) and come back Friday. Will be trying the new set up on my Andersen hitch, and will also find out how many days my new 60 gallon fresh and grey water system will last with three daughters and a wife. The boy and I could last two+ weeks on it easy. pictures to follow. Today is packing day. Although it rained here all day yesterday and the snow level is about 300 feet up the mountain from us. Zion will be 80 and sunny this week.

Long day but we made it to Zion by 10:30 pm. Turn the lights off while parking so as not to bother anyone, and got the trailer backed in first try. We didn't leave our house till 1 pm as is the way with a wife tiring to catch up on work and 4 kids. But we are here till Friday and have lots of biking and hiking planed.

Have a great trip! We've already booked in 5 days in March, 2013 at the Watchman CG.

Len likes to do Angel's Landing, but I'm too chicken.

My kids hiked to the saddle last year but they are 9,6,and twin 2 year olds. So that's as far as we go. They are wanting to hike it again. We also like hidden canyon.

First day, lots of fun. No steep hikes but fun in the canyon and down by the river. Nice sunset at the camp ground. It always reflects of the rock face above watchman. (Picture) Now roasting marshmallows around a nice campfire.

Well another fun day. We did a 11 mile bike ride up to the Zion lodge from the campground and stopped and played at the river for an hour or two. Th kids love the water.

They wanted to know how deep it was on a corner i wouldn't let them play at. I told them it was over my head. Well of course they and my wife didn't believe me. So I striped down and jumped in . It was just past waist deep. Deep enough for them not to be playing in it. And I got a nice fresh bath out of the deal . No pics, wife wanted me to do it again so she could video it??? Sometimes!!!!!
