Well we hiked the Emerald Pools today, I would call them swamps but thats MO.. kids love it and we eat lunch at the top one. I had a fried join us today who I have known since 7 th grade. She brought her son who is a year older than my oldest. They went down to the river while I sit here waiting for dinner to be done. NO KIDS...

Tomorrow is Angels landing (not all the way up) but to the saddle. And then if we have the energy the river walk trail trail. Friday we leave, but I think we may head up to Brice Canyon and stay at one of the RV park for one night...

It's funny, the park doesn't seem very crowed this year. We have been coming the third week in October for 5 years and this has to be the least crowed it has ever been Better for us, great weather... and having a great time..

We made it up Angels Landing, well to scot lookout, just below Angles landing, I'm not crazy enough to take my kids up the last .5 mile. 4 mile round trip and 1070 ft gain in elevation. the older kids did great and the twins rode in the backpacks. Very tired and hope the kids sleep in, because I want to. We are headed to Bryce canyon tomorrow for one night and then home.

Well we left Zion this morning and went to Bryce Canyon today. Staying at an RV park right outside the park Ruby's.. Should have checked the campgrounds in the park but not sure if they have electric hook up, and it's going to get close to freezing around here tonight. I don't have the gas furnaced hook up and use a little space heater right now..

Anyway, we did a nice hike down into the canyon and will head home tomorrow, being sure to stop along the river heading for I-70 to play and do a little gold panning, my new hobby... here are some pics from Bryce. I think well will try to stop longer here next year as it is really beautiful. Been here 2 other times but only spent a day exploring. I feel we need more to to really see the park..

So, on my way home from Bryce Canyon I stopped at the river to partake in one of my other hobbies (looking for gold). Now I didn't find much, a few very small pieces. But I did find two small clear crystals about an 1/8 and 1/16 in diameter. So they were one of two things. Glass or diamonds. They were down about 8" from the surface behind a rock. So I finally took them to a jeweler to have them looked at. Well it turned out they were diamonds. I think I might have to head back to that spot someday. Now I just have to save up to get them cut for my wife.

Hi, we went there a few years ago. We saw the two mud puddles when we were there. I wouldn't go to the third mud puddle because the path was described as 3' wide, two way, soft sand, slippery, 600' drop off on one side, and 900' drop off on the other side. Other than my fear of heights, we loved the place.

How cool, and what a memento!

You may start a diamond rush.
