Can I brag on my nephew Sean a bit? He co-wrote the current #1 tune on the country charts with Brett Young, “Mercy” - I’m so proud of him! I’m biased, but I love this song! Heard it while buzzing through stations on the way to pick up the trailer this afternoon - not ashamed to admit I squirted a few tears there ... [emoji3]

Just discovered some very good, young talented jazz musicians in Spain. They range in age from 7 to 20, led by Joan Chamorro. They have formed several groups, the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and The Joan Chamorro Quintet to name a couple. One of the outstanding young ladies is Andrea Motis who started playing at age 7, plays trumpet, Sax and sings in both English and Portuguese. She recorded her first album at age 15. I discovered these kids about 2 weeks ago and can't stop listening.

We have a similar thing here, the Tucson Jazz Institute Ellington Big Band. They have won first place in the nation several times at Lincoln Center, out of nearly 200 competing bands. We have been supporting them for years and have watched as they grow up and leave, and new ones enter. Many of the graduates end up at prestigious music schools and some are now working in NYC.
