Hi
Indeed thanks to everybody who got this thread going. We would have never made it out here had it not been for this thread. As it is, we're here in Yellowstone on yet another bright sunny day. Special thanks to GMFL and pcskier for all their help and encouragement.

Some road noise but not too bad. Some sites better than others for direct river access. Others, you have to cross the CG gravel road—who has time for that hahaha. I’m in #72 which is a really good one. Gypsydad it appears to be the same spot you have in your pic :-) I parked on an angle for privacy since I’m here for close to a week. 50 yards to river with a view. Some sites more shaded than others RE: solar. I have partial shade and have gotten charged every day, there is a big hole in the trees that opens up in the afternoon and gets the watts cranking. Filtered sun the other 8 hours which gets me there.
It does seem to fill up by early afternoon. However, about two miles down the road towards town, there are wide parking areas on both sides. Big enough for semis to park in. Every night there are RV rigs in there. I filed that away for next time—if CG full, post up there for the night and head over here in the morning. Plenty of people pulling out on the daily, so getting a spot is easy. In July/August, maybe a bit more competitive and require early arrival.
Overall, it’s a gem for access to Yellowstone esp for the price.

Glad it worked out...I have never had an issue at Bakers Hole, but I always try to time it so I am there before 1pm....I found most of the sites pretty nice...highway proximity may be noisy for some...but price is right. I have stayed at way more expensive crowded campgrounds...my buddy paid $100 a night last summer in West Yellowstone! His neighbors were within touching distance of his slide out! Not for me...

Hi
We pulled out this morning. The "dump a ton of snow" forecasts may all be bunk, we'll only really know come Sunday evening. As it is, we were well above the snow line going over the pass on US-26 out of Grand Teton. On this side of the divide and down at 7,000' , it looks like we'll just get rain all day and all night tomorrow.

Yellowstone in Mid September?
Safe travels bob where to next? I decided to bunker down tonight and maybe even till Monday. Plenty of propane, batteries are floating, will load in a couple totes of water, maybe head into to town this afternoon to restock the wine cellar :-) I’d love to see some snow, makes for good photography especially now there is some color on the trees. Crispy, pm sent.

Hi
We're in fabulous / exciting Dubois WY for the night. The drive down through Grand Teton and up over the pass was absolutely terrific looking with all the fall colors (yes, I'm repeating myself, but it was a nice drive).
Tomorrow it's on to Rawlins WY. We may have a touch of snow here in the early morning. Past that it just looks like rain, rain, rain and then more rain if we stay here. We'll head east on I-80 into Colorado the next day. Really big surprise .... there's a bit of wind blowing through that area .... ( I know, it's always windy there ...).
Once we get down into Colorado (Loveland) the weather looks pretty good. It's still 90's at home so no rush to get back there !!!!
One thing I've been amazed by is how good you gas mileage gets when you are forced to slow down. We got better gas miles both towing and driving around in Yellowstone / Grand Teton than we ever have .... (no that really should not come as a surprise )

Yea, take it slow and enjoy the scenery, UB! We are heading to Jackson OH on the 9th for few days maintenance/upgrades, then off to the NC Balloon Fest and then Alumalina. (Anyone else going to these events in NC?)
Going to check out Del Web and Jimmy Buffett +55 communities in SC and Florida along the way back to Austin after Alumalina...should be a nice few weeks. Safe travels!

Hi
We will indeed take it slow, that is good advice. If not for a fixed date event in Loveland, I'd probably just sit here in the rain for a day. No plans to see just how fast you can go on a Wyoming back road in a thunderstorm / snow storm / hurricane
======
We started this season with a visit to Jackson Center. At that point I *thought* I had absolutely everything taken care of. After 6 months of rolling / bumping around the country I could make up another list of "things to do" and stop at JC again.
Oddly enough the wife seems to think that pretty much all of those things *could* be taken care of in the driveway at home. Indeed they are all pretty minor "loose screw / stupid rivet" sort of things.

Bob,
PM sent regarding a close friend in Dubois who's retired and a great fly fisherman and guide, if you're interested.
Cheers,
Bryan

Yellowstone in Mid September?
Crazy. Socked in and snowing, but still getting a solar trickle charge and net positive amps with just the the fridge and propane detector on. Tested it, fridge is pulling about .4 amps.

Hi
If your fridge only pulls 0.4A, you got lucky in the fridge department. Most people seem to see up around an amp or so. Still pretty crazy getting 1.5A in the snow. I'll package up some wind from down here in Rawlins and send it up to blow the snow off. We're trying to roll out in a few minutes to avoid the worst of the wind on I-80.

Yep. I’ve tested it often. Maybe .5 amps if fridge is lit and little fan is on (rated at .1). It’s a 5 cf fridge, though I can’t imagine the control boards draw differently based on size? Maybe they do, plus don’t bigger models with separate freezers have some sort of heat strip in the door frame? That would certainly impact if so?
Overall, my ‘resting default’ boondock state (only fridge and propane detector) is right at .5-.6 amps.

Hi
If you leave you will hit high winds ( = signs telling you about 60+ MPH winds on the road you are on ) and then get to someplace where it's still summer. It's going to be in the 80's here in Loveland today .... yikes .....
(Indeed you can't always trust what you see on road signs, often checking with various forecasts with your phone will tell a somewhat different tale ....)
