Yellowstone!

It's opening!

Yellowstone's East Gate opens to snow-covered interior

Just an update on the East gate.

Be ready to be snowed on! We were there last year the week after Memorial day and we got snowed on twice! Lots of rain too, so bring rain gear so you can still get out and see all the beauty that is Yellowstone!!

Just over a month and I'll be arriving for my second summer working at the gas stations. The article mentions the fishing bridge repair station collapse....I was at the Canyon Station but i know the folks at fishing bridge....sure is a shame.

We're heading there later this month. Just checked the weather, 25 degrees and snow. I'm hoping it warms up a bit, but it will be beautiful regardless.

I lived and worked in Island Park, Idaho, about 25 miles west of West Yellowstone. I was working for the US Forest Service at the time back in the 1970's. The first summer I worked there it snowed 12 inches the weekend of July 4th. For you really focused wilderness freaks, look at going to the very SW portion of Yellowstone at the Beckler Ranger Station. You can park there and take the trail to the Beckler River. Most unbelievable trout stream in North America. Watch for bears, but worth the effort.
