Worn tires, HCG, Ice, DTFFC's = ACCIDENT

Worn out tire, high centre of gravity, ice, driving to fast for conditions, 40' trailer. A proven receipe for disaster.

Towing: Pictures of wreck (I-24, 2/21/08)

Further into the thread the operator admitts to operating the rig with a defective brake controller, no stability controls and having the trailer modified with a 6 inch lift ?!?

Wow! That A-frame sure is twisted around in pic 2. LP tanks happily sitting there though.

I noticed the same thing - thinking wow look the SOB's have a quick release A-Frame in case of accident

They are very lucky people! and someone was looking out for them. I hope they learn from their experience - as we all should.

What the heck is the deal with his van? It looks like a lifted, dually, 15 pass Econoline. Never seen anything quite like that!

It's amazing to me how some people are so careful to tow correctly and still worry about it, while other people flaunt the rules, speed on icy roads, drive without any safety equipment, and are surprised when they have an accident.

I used to live right in that area. Hill county for sure. I dont know about the rest of his facts, but if he was going 60 he was speeding. In Illinois, speed limit towing is 55. Sure is sad to see a wreck like that though.

Yeah, the snapse that passed for thought in my noodle was that a 40 foot TT is hardly what I'd call a "weekend" rig; it's a mobile home. Go park it permanently in a mobile home park.
