Work on the road

On another thread, I read a year-old post by a member in which he mentioned being a campground host. I've read just a little about this and wonder if those who are serving as campground hosts/hostesses would share your experience, how you found your positions, what you think of it in general. What other volunteer or paid jobs are out there while "on the road?" I'm just curious and sort of looking toward some "on the road" plans when retired.

Second hand knowlege only:

Scooter's (son-in-law) parents tried it at a SP in Tx. Didn't like it. To many whiny patrons. And a tornado.
They own a late model A/S motorhome, but I don't think they hang out here at the forum.
