That's on my list. Maybe next year - we plan to get a western trip in next fall and this would be a good target.

If you want to stay in the little RV park nearest the preserve, be sure to make reservations early! They're chock-full during the festival. (On the other hand, while it's really close in, the place is also pretty remote: One channel on the TV, no wifi, not a lot of contact with the outside world short of driving up to Socorro. We're thinking about staying in Socorro next time we go.)

Hi from AZ. .. Same wish for me Lynn. Although a veteran of the Festival told me recently they were going the weekend after the Festival, cause the people were gone but the cranes & waterfowl were still there ! I was there the week before the Balloon Fest & it's a wonderful place. The elk bugling around me at sunset was a memorable experience for me. And the cranes hadn't arrived, but I still saw LOTS of birds & wildlife. Hmmm, sounds like a possible 4CU future gathering to me ...........Regards, Craig

Craig, if you "friend" the Bosque on Facebook, you get some interesting updates. Yesterday, they posted a flick of a young mountain lion that located their motion-sensor camera, sniffed it a little, and then slunk off. In the background, you could see the eyes of two other young lions eyeing the goings-on. It was pretty cool!
