Window Cleaning
Hi
We just got back from 5 weeks in southern Utah in our 2012 25 FB Flying Cloud.
Needless to say our trailer and windows became very dirty. My question is what do others do to clean the 3 windows that look out the back when water is in short supply? We were is campgrounds with and without water. Are the windows real glass? I am thinking of carrying a small bucket, sponge and a bottle of windex.
Thanks for any ideas.
Phil

I would shy away from Windex, I believe it has Ammonia in it which might be tempted to leave spots or stains on the exterior skin if not careful. Yes , the windows are glass & we use a spray glass cleaner from the auto parts stores made without ammonia or other finish damaging ingredients.

I use a window cleaner in an aerosol spray can.

I am a nut when it comes to cleaning windows. I don't do it often enough, but when I do I want them clean. For a while I was in love with "Invisible Glass" in a yellow spray can. Available at Wal mart and auto parts stores usually. But then I found it left a film which was annoying. Then I went to "Sprayway" in a blue spray can. Costco, ACE and many others cary it. I found I liked it much better than "invisible glass".
But then a few weeks ago someone here on this forum suggested just using plain water and micro fiber towels. One wet towel, one to dry. This has turned out to be the very best glass cleaning system I have ever used. Dampen one clean towel, wipe the window down completely, and then dry it with a second towel, which you do not wet. They suggested the blue microfiber towels, but I only had some yellow ones from Costco. The yellow ones work great, maybe the blue ones are even better.
I tried the same two towel system on the exterior of the FC when it is slightly dirty. Even that works very well. (not too dirty, mostly dust and bugs, real dirt can scratch).
So, whoever suggested the microfiber towels idea has the winner in my opinion. Thanks to them I have cleaner windows in my car, AS, and house than any other system I have tried.

I have used microfiber cloths for as long as I can remember and always keep a couple in each of my vehicles and use them around the house for cleaning and polishing. When the one I'm using gets dirty, I just add a little soap to it and rub it between my hands, then rinse it with clean water and it's ready to go. They work great to remove bugs without much effort from windshields and the front cap of Airstreams.

1. Vinegar and water in a spray bottle
2. Microfiber cloths.
3. Windex wipes for "urgent trailer mirror" use
