Why flamingos?

Being new to the Airstream experience, I've noticed a lot of references to pink flamingoes and Airstreams in the forums. What is the connection?

I think it's because they tend to hang around Airstream trailers when we camp.

These ones never left our site when we were in Navarre, FL. Here's a shot from the beach, but I don't think you'll see the flamingoes...

I think it's because they are as iconicly retro & american as Airstreams are. But then, maybe it's to to counteract the "millionaire Airstreamer" attitude alot of people assume we have...no, I got it, it's because pink flamingos like to hang around cool, fun-loving people!

What RV Resort are you at? This is my kind of place, back up into a nice lot with a view of the water - high above the sand and grass around the Airstream!

Pink flamingos are all covert agents of the frivolity police, making sure we don't take ourselves too seriously.

Aage,

What do you feed those to keep them in such a brilliant shade of "Flamingo"? Are they very messy? I don't see the usual goose pooh stuff anywhere. Do they travel well, have their own Flamingo Kennel or is it a nest on top of the AS, I looked but didn't see it. When you travel, do you have to take them for a walk and stretch those long legs, or do they sit on top of the TV, beaks to the wind, wings fully stretched out making like a pair of pink airfoils?

Do you breed them? Any chance for Flamingo Chicks?

I think we need to see a nesting pair on top of someones AS.

Aage, we need your alter ego Avitar back, almost didn't recognize you.

It rained all day, my brain is soggy.

It was a marvellous park. We spent a week there, and quite enjoyed it. It's right on the Santa Rosa Sound.

It's called the Emerald Beach RV Park.

I would stay there again!

Smile No link to Wally?

And here I thought there was going to be some deep historical flamingal connection to Wally Byam...
Hobby Lobby had 2 aisles of flamingo doodads--must be more than just Airstreamers adopting pink pets.
