People say that about RVing (tongue firmly planted in cheek, of course) but having been homeless for a while after Hurricane Katrina, I can assure you that RVing doesn't resemble living like a homeless person at all!

Grew up camping in a basic pop-up. Parents were teachers so we had all summer to travel.

I adore Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and the great West.

2 years ago for our 25th anniversary, we stayed at the fancy-pants Old Faithful Inn. The bed was terrible. Hubs remarked that if we had an airstream we would be sleeping in our own bed with our own sheets and pillows.

The gauntlet was set!

Going back there next summer for the 29th, and to Grand Canyon and Joshua Tree for the 30th.

As we see our folks get older (or pass on) , we have come to realize that we don't/can't wait until we retire to start doing this.

And I must say, to quote one of my favorite movies (Ferris Buehler's Day Off) "if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up"

We stayed in the Joshua Tree park in the northwest corner RV park. The city road to get there was filled with very deep potholes, so 5 mph was close to excessive.

Our 25FB was a challenge to weave through the park and not get scratched. The 22 will be ideal.

I always liked playing house as a little girl. I also liked to fish, hunt and camp with my dad. Later in life, I loved taking the horses camping. I've moved down the path of sleeping in my SUV, to tents and pop-ups, to an older Class A motor home finally to our beloved '94 Classic. Today, it's opportunities to get away with my husband and friends. It's back to my childhood and great memories. It's a private bubble and special times with my husband that is hard to find at home. In the (retirement) future, it will be great adventures and hopefully work camping in our National Parks system. It's in my blood, and I'm grateful to have an Airstream to enjoy it with.

Sold the house, home is where we park it. There is a lot explore, and not enough time, so we are making the most of it.....

We decided it was time to see the beauty of this country from the ground level. Having spent 38 years with TWA and most of our traveling was at 30,000 feet, we thought it was time to visit the National and State Parks in this country. So far this summer we been to The Grand Canyon, The Verdy Valley in AZ and Glacier National Park, plus the many good camping areas in eastern Kansas.
Not new to camping, we did a lot of tent camping when the kids were small, then we did various types of camping with the horses, and finally got our trailer last fall (sorry it's a Oliver and not a Airstream, or otherwise known as the Airstream of the fiberglass trailers).

We camp to get away from hectic city life, and retreat to the mountains to enjoy cooler weather and scenic beauty. It's usually just for long weekends, but it helps remind you of the better things in life, so many of which can be enjoyed in the company of a loving family and your Airstream. It's also a chance to indulge yourself with Oreos (cows or cookies).

I've been following this thread with interest and it seems to me that most Airstreamers are interested in experiencing the natural environment first and rv'ing second. Most also seem to be very experienced campers and have come to Airstream as a result of both their RV experience and an understanding of what they like about camping. I think that explains a lot about why Airstreams maintain a strong following without having "evolved" like other campers have. Airstreams are perceived as luxury campers because of their cost, but if you think about it, they are pretty basic with simple systems and very few gadgets. What you pay for is solid construction and a look and feeling that is like no other. Like a Klein screwdriver it's simply the best of its kind.

First and foremost, camping for us is about being outside, in a natural setting, with our family and friends. We love sitting around a campfire after a day spent hiking, kayaking, biking, or just hanging around the campground. We almost always stay in state parks or equivalent campgrounds. Age and a desire for a few simple comforts led us to RV's and experience led us to Airstream. They are solid, basic and dependable. And more than any other camper, they bring the outdoors inside with their many windows and bright interiors. That's why we love camping, and why we ended up with an Airstream.
