we're not having a huge humidity problem. In fact, could use a little more of it. We're accustomed to living within sight of a warm tropical ocean. The dry air up here in the Rockies is quite a bit of a change for us. Spent Sunday running an ATV around all day up above 9500 ft. That was different too.
The mucus in my nose feels like old epoxy.

I believe that as this thread progresses you will find the percentage tipping more and more in favor of those showering in their trailer. It is my opinion that this trend can be attributed to the lower survival rate among those using the public facilities.

We always (with one exception) use the trailer shower. We open the shower vent and turn on the fan. Maybe in more humid parts of the country, humidity is more of a problem, but turning on more fans can solve that. This way I don't ever have to get dressed. But if I had to choose between a lake with alligators and a campground shower, I'd take a sponge bath.
I have found that public showers can lead to athlete's foot, so I avoid them. They can look fine, but the floor is only as clean as the last guy who walked on it in bare feet.
The one time we used a campground shower was when we stayed longer than anticipated at a campground without a sewer hookup. The shower was hot, but the air was really cold—between the walls and the roof were lots of open spaces letting in the air. This was in northern Minnesota in early "spring".

Perhaps you should just shower in your trailer.

Doesn't anyone use the outdoor shower? The dog and I love it. If you're parked in a secluded spot, you don't need a privacy screen. Let the body breathe a bit. It feels really nice.

Another reason to stay out of public showers.
An Example of many threads to be found in many places:
Is peeing in the shower normal? - Yahoo! Answers
For Flyatnight:
The answer is yes. Bears do poop in the woods. So watch where you step in the outdoor shower as well.

I suppose those outdoor showers come with some risk of steaming up the "wildlife." Beats steaming-up the Airstream, IMO.

Don't forget what happened to that bear when he tried to use a campground shower.

Oops, allow me t finish that thought. We were amazed to discover the previous owners had never used the shower. I never use the campground shower and when you run the exhaust fan there is no problem with humidity.
BTW, if you have an acrylic shower stall, the bestway to keep it like new is to wash with a mixture of dish soap, vinegar , and water. No wax needed. Never use any abrasive cleaner.

We don't camp in RV parks, we park and hook up. When we stay in them we'll use the facilities, after all we paid for them. Never had any health issues. We do use our shower when boondocking.

Whose shower do you use..
Yours. I sneak in when your sleeping and use all your hot water.

We went from a 19.5' Van to the 27FB Airstream.
After using the campground showers exclusively in the van and experiencing the good, the bad and the very, very ugly we use the Airstream 95% of the time. The exceptions are dry camping for multiple days trying to avoid filling the gray tank and exhausting the fresh water.
Other than that one of the reasons we settled on the 27FB was the size of the shower, the size of the tanks and the ease of dumping the gray water every couple of days if needed.

Hi, this is how I feel about it too. Always in my trailer and never in the public facilities.

Our shower
We use the shower in our Airstream, almost exclusively, we hate using public showers. We waxed our shower with auto wax, and use a squeege to clean it when we are done. The exhaust fan does an excellent job with the moisture and we are like the gentleman that stated "that is the reason we bought an Airstream". We love our shower

We almost always stay in State or National Parks or National Forests, where the showers are usually not impressive, if they exist. So, we use the shower in the Airstream. Wet down, soap up, rinse off - we can get three days out of a 28 gal tank of water. Recently, though, Becky used the campground shower at Yellowstone's Edge campground because it was roomy, new, spotless - and she wanted to shave her legs. Located about 10 miles north of the Gardiner entrance to Yellowstone, we stopped there the night before our reservation in the park started. It is the nicest private park we have ever found, and one of very few that I would return to.

This suggestion would, of course, come from you.
You go right on and shower outside, I'll pass on that.

I expect we will never use the shower in the AS. Nice to have it, and in a pinch, perfect. But, with some flip flops, any public shower works just fine!!
