Hope you took warm stuff for your Sun Road trip. We rode the Red Bus, topdown, early am, deep canyons, stiff breeze, light jackets, no hats, no gloves...brrrrrrrrr! Finally warmed up by noon ~G

I think the charm of Many Glacier is its proximity to hiking trails that take you far up into untrammelled regions. We are too old, too stiff, too cowardly to undertake such hikes, but for those who did, the tales they brought back of beautiful uncrowded country made us wish we were young and adventurous again. ~G

We got to St. Mary's yesterday, taking the shuttle on Going to the Sun Road today and on to Many Glacier for a few days tomorrow. Are going to do some low-key hiking with fellow travelers we are meeting at Many Glacier cg---still a bit spooked about bears.
Met JimW and his wife Mary last night, Airstreamers and Forum members here from Omaha. They are also heading west and down the coast for a couple of months.
It was a beautiful drive in from Columbia Falls, and 49 not at all daunting for we-who-do-not-tow, but we didn't see any trailers on it.

We are now in St Mary's at Johnson's after spending some time in Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Did the Red Bus on the 25th up and over to McDonald Lodge; great fun for me but the drop-offs scared the best half. At least the weather was warm and calm. Yesterday, we did a little kayaking on Swiftwater Lake at Many Glaciers.
Johnson's is ok, the only thing great is our view from our rear dining seats.

We did the loop up to Polebridge and back after moving to the west side. Got goodies to munch on the drive back to Apgar while at the P/B Merc - gotta love them huckberries! Saw a Kingfisher dive for a snack in one of those quiet creeks - fun bird to watch. Then the rains came...............
Glacier was a great experience, again! Next year we will to Waterton as well.
