Question Where to stay near Washington DC

We are going to Washington DC for a few days and looking for a place that is clean and close to DC and public transportation. We have a 31 foot Stream.

Thanks

Greenbelt National Park if you don't mind boondocking. Yep, a national park in Washington! You might Google it for more information. There also have been threads on it here on the Forum.

From the standpoint of Northern Virginia and metro traffic, Cherry Hill is the answer. We live near Bull Run for 12 years. It's very nice, but the commuter traffic and/or the metro at Vienna will be a negative for you.

Second that. We stayed at Cherry Hill for about 3-4 weeks several years ago. They have a regular bus stop at the park that’ll take you to the metro and from there, you can tour the city. We spent our time at the various Smithsonian museums and had no problems getting around.

We traveled with our 40’ Foretravel and a jeep toad. We only used the jeep to go to the grocery store (close by) and a few shops. The park had all the amenities one expects, great open areas for walking & running the dogs & the usual gift shop loaded with DC memorabilia.

You’d have no problem at all maneuvering with your 30’ AS.

We stayed at Little Bennett Regional Park Campground in Montgomery County Maryland in October. It is just off I-270 and a few exits north of the end of the Metro Red Line (DC subway). Our site had electric and nearby water. There was a dump station. Well wooded sites. We liked it and would go back especially since we have 3 grandkids living about 5 miles away.

Little Bennett is a Montgomery County park.

Greenbelt, by far! You wouldn't believe you're this close to civilization...deep woods, wildlife. I camped there a few years ago when I ran in the Marine Corps Marathon in DC.
