Where to stay at Bryce Natl. Park?

We're on the road at the Green River State Park in Green River UT in the Bambi. We're headed for Bryce National Park and are looking for recommendations on where to stay. We don't need full hookups but at this time of year electricity would be good.

We have electricity here and it is a beautiful green park on the river bottom.

I think there is one camppground inside Bryce and one private outside. On the road to Bryce you have a bunch of great camping choices choices (rated according to the Lunatic system): #3 Goblin Valley State Park, #2 Capital Reef NP,#4 Coral Pink Sand Dunes SP, #1 Zion National Park, #5 Cedar Breaks National Monument

Kodachrome Basin State Park is also near Bryce. Watch out for the Partridges, they will want to check-out the trailer for food.

We just left Bryce this morning. Stayed at Rubys RV just outside the park Getting a lttle cold at night. Nice place and a good place to wash your rig is just down the street at Sinclairs.

Ruby's has full hook-ups and is located very close to the entrance to Bryce. I have stayed there several times and would highly recommend their RV park, especially this time of year. The National Park campground inside the park is very nice but does not have hook-ups and would definitely be ok if you can do without the electric for heat.

Good luck,

Thanks for the input folks. Thats two for Ruby's. We've reviewed Ruby's as well as BC Pines. Any thoughts on that park.

I just returned from North Campground inside the park. No hookups at all. Certainly room for larger RVs in there and a generator loop. Saw a 19 ft. Airstream. I could walk from campground right to the scenic rim. There is another campground inside park which I didn't explore-Sunset.

For hookups I'd recommend Rubys, right outside the park. It has a shuttle stop for easy access to the park.

A second vote for Kodachrome Basin. Spectacular scenery, 27 miles east of Bryce, but a good base for exploring the Escalante Staircase. A small, quiet, park with roomy campsites.

I wondered where the Partridge family ended up. Sad to hear they are begging RV'ers for food in UT....

It starts to get so cold at night at that elevation that I'd probably opt for Ruby's Inn, if you like to plug in an electric space-heater. We've stayed there a few times. Would also recommend the Shooting Star Drive-In www.shootingstardrive-in.com for something fun and different if you're headed east from Bryce into Escalante, Utah.

We drove by the Shooting Star and looked really cool from the road. We wanted to stay ther but there was no availability the night we wanted to stay. Guess we will need to come back soon!

thanks everyone! we're sequestered at Ruby's with space heater on round the clock, city water detached at night. Warmer weather coming tomorrow. Going to check out the Shooting Star first of the week.

Glad to see you comments about Green River State Park, thinking about staying there for one night on the way through next summer. looks like the best choice in Green River but also wondering about Shady Acres.

Sad to say Shady Acres was passable but hardly the beautiful park it was a dozen years ago.

Green River State Park is a nice place. It's not a wild and scenic park-- more like a municipal campground. But very well tended and off the highway. There is a more free-for-all camping area along the Green River north of town-- I think it's managed by the BLM. We thought it looked a bit more sketchy.
