Where to Go?

After waaaaay to long living in our non-aluminum house we are actually going camping this weekend!

Now, where to go..... we live in Tahoe and it's going to be in the high 40's so I guess just about anywhere will be warmer, technically. But, Roman would like to go somewhere warm-ish where he can fish and "get away" Any suggestions of places to go? We are looking at driving one way no more that 2.5 hours (give or take a bit).

Try Snug Harbor on Ryer Island in the Sacramento Delta. They have full hookup spaces right on Steamboat Slough where you can fish sitting on your back bumper. If you like to sit on your back bumper.
California Delta Snug Harbor!

It would be about 135 miles for you.

Thank-you for the suggestion we are on their site right now and it looks promising.

Hello,

Clueless what the temp might be this time of year (coolish?) There are things starting to happen at Columbia State Park Columbia California - Columbia State Historic Park - Gold Rush Country Near Sonora. Not sure about camping, however, it is weird, not too many campsites along Hwy 49...and never more than one or two open in the "winter" months... go figure...

There is the 49er RV Ranch (never been there, however) you'd need to contact them to see if they are open during this season: 23223 Italian Bar Road, Columbia, CA (209) 532-4978. The town and State Park are great fun, however! Shouldn't be crowded at this time of year.

If you do choose to go to Snug Harbor, use the bridge at the north end of Ryer Island. Do not attempt either of the two ferry crossings with your trailer.

We attended a Vintage Airstream rally at Snug Harbor several years ago. and enjoyed the place.

We have had a home in Walnut Grove since 1972, so know the Delta.

This site Walnut Grove Area Page has loads of information and links to other Delta sites. Lots of great history in the Delta.
